TIG Welding in San Antonio for Food Plants, Aerospace Shops and Breweries

San Antonio work splits between food plants and airplanes. We weld stainless equipment and sanitary lines for processors, build tooling and support equipment for the aircraft maintenance shops at Port San Antonio, and repair tanks and fittings for breweries from Southtown to New Braunfels.

Short answer

Who does TIG welding in San Antonio?

TIG Weld Techs serves San Antonio and the I-35 corridor up to New Braunfels with mobile TIG rigs and shop fabrication. The work is mostly stainless food equipment and sanitary tube, aluminum and chromoly parts for aerospace maintenance shops, and brewery and ranch repairs. We weld to the code the job specifies. Who we weld for around San Antonio

01

Food processing

Meat, tortilla, bakery and snack plants across Bexar County run conveyors, kettles, hoppers and washdown frames in 304 stainless. We repair cracked equipment, add brackets without leaving crevices, and weld sanitary tube under a full purge so the sanitation crew isn't fighting the welds.

02

Aerospace and military maintenance

Port San Antonio, on the former Kelly Air Force Base, is a hub for aircraft maintenance, with Randolph and Lackland close by. We build aluminum and 4130 stands, carts and fixtures and repair shop tooling. Parts on the aircraft itself need whatever approvals the maintenance program requires.

03

Breweries

From the Pearl and Southtown out to New Braunfels and Boerne, breweries need ports added, jackets repaired and transfer lines rerouted. We weld 304 sanitary tube square-butted and fused under purge, then blend and passivate the product-contact surfaces.

04

Ranch, oilfield and trailers

The Eagle Ford south of town keeps trucks busy, and the Hill Country has no shortage of livestock trailers and ranch gear. We fix aluminum trailers, stainless water tanks, steel hitches, and cracked castings that are hard or slow to replace.

Food plant work is about cleaning, not looks

A processing plant doesn't much care how a weld looks from the aisle. It cares whether the weld can be cleaned. That means continuous welds with no pinholes, no lap joints that trap meat or flour, and brackets welded all the way around instead of stitched. On 304 equipment we keep heat input low to limit warping and heat tint, then brush the color out with stainless-only tools.

Sanitary tube gets judged from the inside. The root should be flat with full penetration, and the color no darker than light straw. Gray, crusty metal in there is sugaring, and a QA inspector will reject it. The work usually happens in the sanitation window, overnight or on a weekend. Bring the plant's hot work and lockout rules with the scope. Our stainless steel TIG welding page covers alloys, back purging and finishing.

Getting onto a base or into the Port

Work at Joint Base San Antonio locations needs a base pass, a background check and a sponsor on the inside, and none of that happens overnight. Port San Antonio tenants run their own security and safety orientation. Start the access request the day you send the scope, because the paperwork usually sets the start date, not the weld.

Ground support equipment and tooling are where we fit best. Stands, carts, engine dollies and fixtures get built in aluminum or 4130 as custom metal fabrication, square and flat, with welds that hold up to being dragged across a hangar floor.

Loops, I-35 and the drive to New Braunfels

San Antonio is built in rings. Loop 410 circles the inner city and Loop 1604 the outer one, with I-10 and I-35 cutting through both. I-35 north toward Schertz and New Braunfels is a work zone more often than not. Boerne is about 30 miles up I-10 and Seguin about 35 miles east. Travel is quoted by distance from wherever the rig starts.

For brewery tanks and plant equipment that can't move, we bring mobile TIG welding rigs. Cracked ranch and trailer parts usually come to the shop as repair work, which is cheaper than paying for a rig to drive out to a pasture.

FAQ

TIG welding in San Antonio: questions

Not covered here?

Call or text (346) 561-0862. A photo of the part usually answers half the questions.

Do you do welding for food processing plants in San Antonio?

Yes. We repair and modify 304 and 316L processing equipment, add brackets and guards, and weld sanitary tube with a full argon purge. Welds are continuous and finished so they can be cleaned. Plant work is usually scheduled in a sanitation window. Send photos, the alloy and the plant's contractor rules.

Can you weld on Joint Base San Antonio?

We can work on base when the job's sponsor arranges access. That usually means a background check and a base pass issued before the start date, and it takes time. Tell us the installation, the building and who is sponsoring the work, and we'll get our part of the paperwork in early.

Can a cracked cast iron part be welded?

Sometimes. Cast iron is often better brazed than fusion welded, with preheat and slow cooling so it doesn't crack again beside the repair. Cast aluminum TIG welds well once the oil soaked into its porosity is baked out. Send photos and tell us what the part does, and we'll say which route makes sense.

Do you serve New Braunfels, Schertz and Boerne?

Yes. We cover San Antonio and the towns around it, including New Braunfels, Schertz, Converse, Universal City, Boerne, Seguin, Helotes and Castroville. On-site work uses mobile rigs, with travel quoted by distance. Shop parts can be shipped or delivered.

How do I get a welding quote in San Antonio?

Send photos or drawings, the metal and thickness, how many parts or joints, and where the work is. Mention any code, sanitation or base access requirements up front. Call (346) 561-0862 or use the quote form, and we'll follow up with questions or a quote.
